MESSAGE
FROM PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER Hi my name is Phil Wheeler. I grew up on a farm in Vermont, and came down to Washington fresh out of college in 1928. I worked in the Patent Office for a year, then spent four years testing aircraft engines. then most of the rest of my working life for the Navy Bureau of Ordnance. I married a wonderful girl named Anne Ericson, whose
father came over from Sweden when he was a small boy and settled in
Kentucky where Anne grew up. We
had only one child, a mild Downs' Syndrome son. In
an effort to get help for him, we went from doctors, to
psychologists, psychiatrists, to clinics and special schools, joined
groups and attended many meetings. We finally took courses at the
Washington School of Psychiatry By the tine our son had grown I
had learned a lot of
things I wished someone had taught me before he arrived. It made me
a missionary for PRE PARENT EDUCATION (PPE) in

being a Parent, the most important job you will ever have. So I hope you will take a look at the various items in
this web page. Some of them are a bit of preaching, which I
hope will be accepted. For after living most of this century, I feel that I
have gained a bit of knowledge and maybe wisdom which should be
useful to other people.
